Remembering Stonewall - 6/28/69

Blessed are those who stand up to unjust authority!

Wednesday . . .hot summer day!

Good Morning! SilverRoo and his brother, RustyRoo, have been calling the sun - and today they have been very successful. It is a very bright, sunny day here. The ponies, Rosie and Willow went out in the pasture to eat hay before the day gets too hot. We hope you are having a beautiful Wednesday!

Saturday!

Happy Saturday from Holly and all of us at Sanctuary House! Today is supposed to be warm and sunny - great beach weather . . . alas, only in our dreams! In case you are not going to the beach either, but might be shopping online, here is our updated  Wish List  - it has many new items, including things we especially need this week: hummingbird nectar, SandRID for the horses, chew treats for the dogs, and Friskies with extra gravy for our elderly kitties. If you can help us as you shop, we will appreciate it very much! Have you ever seen a  Great Leopard Moth ? They are nocturnal but are attracted to light. This moth was flying in the moonlight . . . he must have flown all the way to the Rainbow Bridge, because we found his body in the grass the next morning. Have a safe and wonderful day . . . and if you do get to the beach, we hope you'll think of us there.

Summer!

Summer - time for zinnias!!

Celebrating Pentecost

Pentecost - the coming of the Spirit - a holy day, not commercialized or even much mentioned, and yet one of the holiest days of the Christian year. ". . .when God puts his Spirit in us, then. . .God in you and me understands God speaking to  you and me. That's why the Christian has this passionate concern about the family of Christ. . . .Because we do not understand any kind of revelation in Christian terms that isn't given in community. The revelation was not first given and afterward a community created to proclaim it. Rather the creation of the community was itself the revelation of the activity of God. . . .As members of the church of Christ we don't come together in order to like each other."     We come together because we are God's witnesses to the truth. "For the Christian truth is a person and that person is Jesus Christ. . . .Therefore when we go out to be witnesses, three things are required of us. First, conviction, then courage, and the...

National Best Friends Day

Our chicks, Goldie and Betty, hope you are having a fun National Best Friends Day - these girls are inseparable and spend all day, every day together! But whatever you're doing today, we hope you are sharing it with a great friend!

Pictures for a Friday afternoon

 A rose . . . a daylily . . . and a little toad asleep in a pipe - no doubt enjoying a pipe dream!

Let the fence repairs begin . . .

Repairs on the pasture fence began this morning bright and early at 7:30 a.m. Fortunately, the day so far is sunny and breezy. The horses watched the work for a few minutes - breakfast and hay were served in their half of the pasture, and soon they decided that the fence work could be done without their supervision!

The first daylily of summer

Good morning - and here is the first daylily of the 2019 summer! All of the daylily plants are full of buds, but these orange ones are usually the first to bloom. They are transplants from the ditch on one side of the pasture, so actually they are wild daylilies.  Hope you enjoy this  daylily  puzzle!

Good Monday Morning!

After a night of storms with much thunder and lightning, it's a cool, bright sunny day - time for hummingbird breakfast and a mid-morning hay snack for Willow! We hope you are having a beautiful day too!
