Guess what?

Just in case you haven't heard the good news - Ascension Hermitage & Sanctuary House now has a   Chewy Wish List !  Of course, the wish list has many things for cats and dogs, and even for the horses . . . but the greatest thing is that there are a couple of items for chickens!!  And yes, a few things for wild birds . . . and you know that that means - even for the squirrels! We are grateful for anything you send - thank you, thank you!

Guarding the door . . .

. . . yes, it looks more like sleeping on door duty, but Thea and Will are listening for any strangers or strange truck in the driveway, and then they'd jump right up barking! Really and truly, no one comes to the door (or even the outside gate!) unannounced.

First day of Spring!

This first day of Spring is chilly and sunny. A heron visited the "pond" in the middle of the horse pasture, and after a quick drink flew off to the nearby woods. The redbud tree is just ready to burst into bloom.   And most reassuring of all, the pecan tree is almost ready to leaf. Surely that is the most definite sign of Spring, since as my mother who knew a lot about trees always said, "You can't fool a pecan!"

March 17

Happy St. Patrick's Day ! Janie, Louie, and Casper aren't really Irish, except for today, of course.

Spring is coming . . .

Only a few days now until the official date of Spring, but little golden promises of the days to come are everywhere!

Sweet treat . . .

Yes, this tangerine was originally a treat for the birds, but then a squirrel discovered it! Yum, yum!
