It is with great sadness that we report that our little Chincoteague pony, Rosie, died this afternoon Two nights ago Rosie had broken her neck - perhaps by running into a tree or a fence post or the corner of the run-in . . . we'll really never know. We were prepared for indefinite stall rest or even future surgery, but there was just too much neurological damage.Rosie, whose whole name was Moonlight Rose, had lived at Sanctuary House for a little over a year; she celebrated her first birthday in May. She was the youngest and smallest of our pasture residents, but she was in charge all the way. She was bossy, funny, loving, gentle, and entirely unflappable. She loved the other horses and they loved her. She loved people and always came to the fence for a kiss; she often tried to bite a shirttail or shoes - she wanted to play and she wanted to include humans in her play!
Our hearts are broken . . . until we see you again Rosie pony, at the Rainbow Bridge - rest in peace, make heaven richer.
